This is why Dr. Adams recommends annual dental check-ups to ensure that your pet’s teeth and gum tissue remain healthy.
At Sand Mountain Small Animal/Equine Hospital, Dr. Adams will examine your pet for broken or compromised teeth and diseases of the gums and soft tissue. Your pet’s annual check-up will consist of teeth cleaning and repair, preventative treatment, as well as digital radiography or extractions if necessary.
Dental problems can develop unexpectedly between check-ups, regardless of how well you maintain your pet’s oral health. Your pet may exhibit outward signs of a painful oral condition by changes in chewing, appetite, a reluctance to eat or play with toys – and in felines, improper or cessation of grooming. If you notice such changes in behavior, or the onset of physical signs such as drooling, swelling, a broken tooth, and unusual breath odor, contact Sand Mountain Animal Hospital as soon as possible. These may all be caused by a dental emergency or other condition that may require medical attention.
